Today we announce The Light Cinemas as the operator for the eight screen cinema at the heart of the £57m Spirit of Sittingbourne regeneration project in partnership with Swale Borough Council and Quinn Estates.
Launched in Bucharest, Romania in October 2008, The Light Cinemas currently has 3 all digital venues in the UK and one in Germany. Showing the latest in blockbusters, independent and international films, plus the best live opera, ballet, theatre and pop concerts from around the globe, The Light Cinemas provides a unique entertainment experience in a friendly relaxed environment.
Construction of The Light Cinemas is due to start in October 2016 with completion set for early 2018. The cinema will be joined by 6 restaurants, creating a new leisure quarter between the high street and Sittingborne train station and attracting an additional 400,000 visitors a year to the town.
In addition, 213 much needed town centre homes will be delivered by residential specialist, Neighbour via a private rental sector model, providing stylish and affordable homes on a long-term rental basis.
Today’s news marks the next step in the delivery of 1,100 jobs and £250 million of investment into Sittingbourne over the next 10 years.
